An extract from Lut’s biography

Despite her classic education her art is resolutely contemporary.

Drawing and painting is a passion that never left Lut and its with constant renewed energy and vision that she explores unbeaten paths. In her work she mixes techniques and mediums.

She makes bas-reliefs, paints or draws with ample, strong and harmonious movements.

She uses charcoal and includes in her works techniques that escapes the control of her leading hand, thus reflecting the incertitude of our daily life.

Her architectural mind setting reflects in the way she builds her works, often with underlying geometrical patterns and by the use of construction materials. She pays great attention to perspectives and optical effects.

She claims her work is a reflection and expression of her inner self, showing ordered anarchy in a confined environment.

More Swedish Baroque Chairs

For those who follow the blog, you surly have found several postings about our Swedish distributors Annika and Leif Arvidsson form Lages AB. As upholsterers they work for antiques dealers, museums and whom ever wishes to have their chairs done by expert hands.
Earlier this year we worked with them on a large set of Baroque chairs.

Your educated eye will note that there are 2 different models of chairs.

This pair is 18 century Swedish baroque.

This one here is a late 19th century Swedish Baroque chair.

Obviously this is a more elaborated sort of Baroque.

The Chairs have been upholstered with a design form our collection the “Abondance”

Annika & Leif have upholstered a set of chairs for the Hallwyl museum Stockholm http://hallwylskamuseet.se/en we made the reproductions of the leather they needed using the original embossing plate owned by the museum. Swedish television made a reportage about the story and the upholstery work done in the studios of Lages AB. But at first, Annika shows how patiently she makes her own Gilt Leather…..

Upholstery leathers for the Hallwyl Museum, Stockholm

For the Hallwyl museum http://hallwylskamuseet.se/en we supplied upholstery leathers.

which were fitted to a set of chairs form the Hallwyl dining room, by Lages AB

LSH Museums is a group of three Swedish museums the Royal Armoury, Skokloster Castle and The Hallwyl Museum together they constitute a government agency, accountable to the Ministry of Culture.

The original leathers could have been restored yet the choice was made to replace the leathers.
No conservator takes this decision easily, it certainly must have been a long discussed matter among the LSH staff.

In the reserves of the museum the original embossing mould was stored securely, which is exceptional.
No mould needed to be made. In the workshop we merely made the original mould operational.

Form there we made some sample panels. These were apparently conclusive thus the LSH staff took the decision to have the leather panels replaced. The original damaged leathers being stored in the reserve.
